I was waiting for this to go up. We're about t-minus one hour from it (depending on how long Duke-Xavier goes, I guess). Too bad it's not going to be a long interview like Clarke had. I've noticed that 60 Minutes are not promoting this either. The commercial I just saw advertised the story on soccer phenom Freddy Adu, not the story on Rice or Pickering. I also discovered from the link referenced above that Rice spoke to them this morning and not yesterday as I'd heard would be the case before. Bill Kristol predicted this morning that Rice might say that if this is really such a big deal that she'll testify in public under oath as she's been badgered to do. I don't think Bill has a good track record on predicting news, so take that with a grain of salt. By the way, go Xavier-- I had Duke losing before now in my office pool bracket, but my opponents have them winning it all.

He didn't say no attacks, just fewer before than after.

No, I didn't know what you meant. Sorry.
Yes - many, many Iraq/AQ links. The administation is making a huge mistake not discussing them every single day.
Suggestion - send e-mails to the White House, RNC, Karen Hughes, Carl Rove, etc. suggesting they talk about the links.

Yep, over and over and over - if you noticed - the questions were not about 'what did you think, what did you do, what did you plan...'
All together now - all the questions Bradley asked were 'HOW DID YOU FEEL....'

Well, all I can say is, if its as bad as all of you folks are making it sound (and I believe you), she is now going to have to testify in front of the commission in public.
this is what you get when you don't have an effective political "war room" political operation.

We'll never know how she did. Most of what didn't hit the cutting room floor was Ed Bradley campaigning for Kerry.
To: BlueAngel
Did she not have a thing to say about the veracity of Clarke's claims? Why no mention of her 2000 radio interview that refutes what Clarke said about her understanding of Al qaeda?

Now another walking cadaver, Mike Wallace, and UpChuck Schumer! Aaagghh - I cannot take anymore! How does 60 Minutes stay on the air?
To: BlueAngel
I don't think we can blame it ALL on CBS (much as I'd like to). Condi was not prepared. There were answers that Freepers could have given that would have resonated with the American public. The answers she gave did not.

I don't think calling CBS would accomplish anything. They acknowledged receiving more hostile emails after Andy Rooney's outrageous hit piece on Mel Gibson than about any story ever. Their response was to allow Rooney a rebuttal that ridiculed those who complained.
I think contacting sponsors would be the only effective response to the Condi "interview".

Here's an e-mail I sent to Ed Gillespie @ the RNC.
An idea: Publish a timeline that shows exactly what President Bush's administration did to fight terrorism during the nine months prior to 9/11. Use some of the data contained in Clarke's 2002 background interview and his e-mail to Dr. Rice. List the date next to each action, each meeting and each directive. Include the call to the President of Pakistan, the order to increase spending on covert actions, the "let's stop swatting flies" meeting, the order to establish a comprehensive plan, the order to eliminate vs. roll back Al Queda, the warning issued to law enforcement in the summer of 2001, the arrival of the comprehensive report to the President just before September 11, etc.
I believe that if you were to put the actions taken by the President, Dr. Rice, Mr. Clark, Secretaries Powell and Rumsfeld, etc. on a timeline, it would be clear to the public that they were on the job, seeking to protect America.
The contrast between the President's actions and the "plan" that Mr. Clark said was on the table for two years during the Clinton administration will be stark.
A good question to ask is "If the President and his staff hadn't been working on a comprehensive plan before attacks, how much longer would it have taken us to respond?" (militarily, financially, diplomatically...)
To: Peach
We have no idea what Condi actually said. Remember this interview was edited down to fit into a short segment. They probably left out some very good stuff.
To: coloradomom
Awful. Rice has no fight in her, and knows nothing about bare-knuckles politics.
She looked weak.
W needs some fighters speaking for him. The Clinton's are successfully shifting blame for 9/11 to Bush. I can't believe it.
