Rumsfeld on FoxTV wipes floor with BBC type reporter

A few moments ago Rumsfeld on Fox, live TV was talking about Iraqui's coming to the US to take military courses necessary for a civilian govt., when q. and a. began, a BBC type reporter asked if the US had acted differently, perhaps 9/11 wouldn't have happened. Rumsfeld gave him both barrels: listing all the times we'd 'turned the other cheek, the embassy bombings, the Cole, etc., and we were minding our own business on 9/11, when 3000 innocents, men, women and children were murdered. The worst attack on US soil. To suggest that we caused this is ludicrous, insulting (paraphrasing here), furthermore, to imply that appeasement is honorable, letting terrorists get away with it, hoping someone else will get attacked instead, is not only dishonest, it won't work. He implied that the reporter should be ashamed of himself for even suggesting it.

Hehehehe..I love Rummy. Good for him.

Ya gotta like Rummy. I know I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of something like this (but then, again, I wouldn't ask such an asinine question in the first place).

What if the US had pulled troops out of Saudi Arabia just as soon as we drove Iraq out of Kuwait? That would have been "acting differently" and has been cited as the main reason the radical Muslims are trying to kill us. We were given permission to use Saudi soil to use for this purpose, subject to the condition that we leave when we were done, and we agreed. We finished, but we didn't leave, and the Khobar towers attack was soon after that.

Such a rarity in Washington. Someone with their head screwed on right who doesn't mince words and doesn't let nonsense slide.
I wouldn't mind seeing him as the nominee in '08.

One of the things I like about W is the people he's chosen to work with him in leadership. I love Rumsfeld; I love Cheney; I have a lot of respect and regard for Ashcroft and Rice.
By contrast, I can't think of a single functionary of The Nameless One who I could stand to watch.

Heard it. The reporter followed up by saying he wasn't asking that or something to that effect and Rumsfeld answered "I anwered the question my way, and you asked the question your way". It was classic!!! There is nobody better at dealing with the Press weasels than Don Rumsfeld.

"I wish we would have more conservatives cut down these liberal journalist? when they ask stupid asinine questions." If the reporters could be identified when they ask their foolish questions, I think many of them might think twice before asking non-sense questions.
On the other had, it would expose the true idiots that ask these type of questions to pump up their liberal standing in the Democrat party.

I wish Rummy was fifteen years younger so he could be our next president. The man is a treasure, and I am in love with him.

I was surfing past CNN just as they cut to it, and wow, it was Rummy at his absolute finest! "Maybe if we leave them alone they'll go away and not hurt us again. Maybe they'll hurt somebody else instead. Some people that that's good...it isn't!"
I've never, ever seen him light it up like that...it was wonderful to behold.
