NO THANKS, MR. CLARKE (9/11 Families)

March 28, 2004 -- WE are all in agreement that a review of what happened leading up to 9/11 is important for many reasons. As families and friends of loved ones killed by the terrorists that day, we want to know if 9/11 realistically could have been prevented, whether justice is being brought to those behind this attack, and, most important, that our government is taking the right action to stop future attacks. A meaningful review as to what happened on 9/11 and the aftermath can only happen if it is truly nonpartisan. Unfortunately, this week much of the non-partisanship was taken from us when Richard Clarke, the former White House counterterrorism advisor, decided to use his testimony before the 9/11 Commission to showcase the release of his tell-all book.

Good call about Linda Tripp and Paula Jones, and book deals. They went after Newt big time for writing a novel.

Anyone who actually watched the hearings, except for Carville/Shrum/Greenberg clients, had to be appalled at those commissioners actually holding his book up as they framed their questions.

Anyone who does not think that Ben-Veniste and Gorelick coordinated that attack was not alive during the impeachment hearings.

I recommend to any of the families who want more info than they'll ever get from this commission that they read Richard Miniter's book, Losing Bin Laden.

Just my paranoid opinion: I don’t think Clark wrote “his” book. I don’t think he even “proof read” it. There are too many contradicting points and there are errors even in the chronology of events. The Democrats “MO” are all over this.

They made a big deal about "the three women" financed by Mrs Kerry, making complaiints. Will the press make a fuss about these folk? No. They aren't in the democrats pay, therefore, to the press corps, they are morons.

Let's pray that Fisk releases Clarke's 2002 'testimony', compares it with his perjury before the current commission, has justice bring charges of criminal libel and get convictions and the finding that his 'book' profits from his criminal activities and that all earnings therefrom are therefore forfeit to the United States.

Excellent--I was hoping some of the families would speak out like this. I am sure the media will want to bring this viewpoint into their discussions since they have been very interested in the anti-Bush families...ok, I won't hold my breath.

Anti-Bush 9/11 families are headlined in the "mainstream" media. Pro-Bush 9/11 families are featured in the tabloids.
