Let me see if I have this right. The fact that Kerry attended a meeting of the VVAW where the option of assassinating Senators was discussed, is not news, but the fact that the FBI might have trailed Kerry for this very reason, is.

The fact that Kerry attended a meeting of the VVAW where the option of assassinating Senators was discussed, is not news, but the fact that the FBI might have trailed Kerry for this very reason, is. That's the L.A. Times's concept of what constitute news in operation for the whole world to see. It was a very crude attempt to bend readers' minds to believe the act of trying to catch a bunch of possible assassins was the real "crime." It's Orwellian but there are plenty of suckers ready to take the bait..
