[history]
CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. (AP) - Republican Matt Fong felt nearly certain of victory in his 1998 U.S. Senate race when incumbent Democrat Barbara Boxer mowed him over with attack ads casting him as an extreme right-winger on abortion, gun control and the environment.

Fong said he let Boxer create an image of him that scared voters away, while never painting an opposing picture of her.Well, there's that plus Boxer took out Issa, who would have been a stonger opponent, with a lying smear job in the 'pubbie primary of 98 so that she could run against the weaker Matt Fong. So watch your back Mr. Jones, given the typical Boxer MO, there's some nasty dirt (either true or untrue, doesn't really matter) about to be released about you sometime around October 28th of this year.

The Democrats strategy in all elections is to produce lies and then expect the Republicans to defend themselves. The Republicans fall for this strategy all the time, and use their time on defense. They need to imploy a different line of strategy which begins by telling the Democrats to prove it.

I seem to remember it a bit different.
Matt did not fight back.
He let her beat him.
I think he listened to his mommy.
He ran an awfully weak campaign.

I agree. He was a very weak candidate.

He had it in the bag
as I recall, and when
she smeared him,
he took the high road.
BAD decision.

Jones should run ads promising Botox coverage for regular citizens. He can posit that no government official should receive coverage for such treatments if they are unavailable to the constituents. He doesn't need to name her, as her visage is pretty self evident.
It'll cause "concern" to Barbara Botoxer who will consider it a negative ad. But folks will associate her with the drug and mayhaps they will place her into the same group as Cher and the other plastic-faced hollywood-ites.

They need to imploy a different line of strategy which begins by telling the Democrats to prove it. No, they need to go negative now and put out the dirt on Boxer. There is plenty of it to use, no need to make any up.

I see that the usual California political fight is on to make sure that both choices are anti-family socialists. The wise way to go would be to offer Boxer as the only choice for the radical Left Coast left. ...that is, until they're ready to support and vote for someone who hasn't lost so many brain cells.

Californians need to put someone like Jerry Falwell in a race to induce coronaries and confusion in the sodomitical opposition. ...a win by default, almost.

I suggest that you look at Boxer's sad record in Marin County, where she was a big frog in a small pond.
Every election, mysterious anonymous hit pieces about her opponent would appear the weekend before the election. On the same level as "he's a pedophile". Worked every time.
A review of newspaper records will verify that she took this dirty trick with her to Washington, and spread the wealth.
She is worse than slime, and may have taught Kerry a trick or two.

I'm going to make a campaign contribution to Jones, one to Thune, and to Mel Martinez in my own state.
And more to Bush/Cheney, and the RSCC, and the RNC and the FRC...
I'll be broke by November, but I'll be happy! I'll gladly give up new shoes to wipe out the democrat party.

I'm making one to Herman Cain in Georgia
and one to Clinton LeSeuer in Mississippi,
and also to John Thune in S. Dakota.
We're I wealthy, I'd give more.
I need to donate to Bush/Cheney SOON.
Mel Martinez has a really good chance
of winning, doesn't he?

Here's a recent pic of 63-year-old Barbara Botoxer:

I think Martinez can win, if he can win the primary against Bill McCollum. I supported McCollum in 2000, but I don't think the Florida Republicans need to run someone AGAIN who managed to lose to the pathetic Bill Nelson.
Our senatorial primary isn't until August 31, so it will be a short and brutal campaign. The silver lining is that the dems are far more divided than we are.
I forgot about Cain! He's got my son's vote, that's for sure.
