Remember 20 years ago when adults were criticizing kids for playing all those video games?
They were practicing for war!

- More assigning of officers and NCOs to work similar jobs in other services.
This was unheard of when I was still active. We had Australians, New Zealanders, Brits - even a Sergeant from the New Guinea Defense Force, facial clan tattoo and all.
Never did we have a US Navy, Marines or Air Force exchange NCO. It would have been nice.

I recall reading in "The March Up" at the end of the drive to Baghdad units of both the Army and Marines were in Baghdad on opposite sides of the Tigris river, they could see each other but they couldn't communicate to each other. So we still have a ways to go with "jointness".

If I could know where most of the other guys are in front of me, I could be a one man wrecking crew.
Especially if it was REALTIME info on where the other guys are.
And anything that'd give me an advantage in real combat is a good thing.
They'd BETTER do this right.

I cam imagine the next generation of officers will be quite familiar with C&C or Warcraft sytle controls as a way of directly moving units from point A to point B in a combat theatre.
The next nation that tries to hit us in a stand up fight is in for a brutal suprise.

"Army units used Korean War vintage radios through the 70s and well into the '80's" That was me. Sitting at ranges at Ft. Bragg, looking at the vehicle I wanted to contact, but getting only Cuban fishing boats. Half the time we used our own purchased Motorola's.
