The article below is written by a reporter for Talon News. Most people have never heard of them, but they have a seat at the White House Press Briefings; generally the reporter is Jeff Gannon (who is a Freeper, by the way).

Additionally, I receive Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) e-mail alerts and they have sent me one regarding this matter which I have posted to the end of this article. The link is easy to use to write legislators and I encourage you to share with like-minded activist friends.

Claim: Kerry Promoting Increased Foreign Tariffs to Alter Presidential Election By Jimmy Moore Talon News March 26, 2004

WASHINGTON (Talon News) -- A major taxpayer group is urging likely Democratic presidential candidate John F. Kerry to stop collaborating with the European Union (EU) to impose damaging tariffs on U.S. products being exported from key swing states in the upcoming presidential election.

Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist noted that Kerry has been touting his popularity among foreign leaders in recent weeks. However, Norquist said he was shocked to learn the extent some foreign leaders will go to remove President George W. Bush from the White House in November.

Norquist points to direct evidence of election tampering by the EU in which they are purposefully applying high tariffs to U.S. goods that are received from key electoral states in the upcoming presidential election in the United States.

He added that it appears the strategy by Kerry and the EU is to keep the American economy sagging and unemployment rising.

"It's official," Norquist exclaimed in a press release. "Europe is actively participating in the U.S. election and is collaborating with the Kerry campaign."

Chiding the Massachusetts senator for jeopardizing American workers for the sake of political gain, Norquist sent a firm reprimand to the Kerry campaign.

"ATR calls on Kerry to stop this collaboration now and remove the tariffs being placed on U.S. companies and workers," Norquist asserted.

Beginning on March 1, 2004, the EU started collecting the inflated tariffs on U.S. products made in these key swing states in the 2004 presidential election.

In fact, even higher tariffs will be levied at the beginning of each new month unless changes in the tax law take place.

The Foreign Sales Corporations (FSCs) and the extraterritorial income exclusion (ETI) export subsidies were both found to be in violation of World Trade Organization (WTO) agreements due to a suit brought by the EU.

In response to this, Bush, along with the U.S. Congress, has submitted a proposal to bring the United States tax code in compliance with the ruling by the WTO.

But on Wednesday, Democratic members of the Senate began filibustering the Bush plan, so these increased tariffs will remain in effect indefinitely.

Norquist said the net effect of these obstructionist tactics by the Democrats along with the EU is that it will make it more difficult for U.S. products to compete overseas, cause job losses, and stifle economic growth.

"Coordinating political maneuvers to inflict job losses in swing states is economic treason," charged Norquist. "If Euro-socialists don't want Bush to be President of the United States, bully for them."

Concluding that this attempt by Kerry to win the presidency at any cost is a travesty, Norquist said the level this has been taken to is unprecedented.

"But for a challenger to look to Europe to inflict pain in the United States is taking Machiavellian power plays to a level never before seen in American politics," Norquist observed.

Americans for Tax Reform is a non-partisan group of taxpayers and taxpayer groups who are opposed to all federal and state tax increases.

Action Alert

Tell your Senators to fight Kerry's plan to cozy up to Europe for electoral gain!
Tell your Senators and Representatives to support American Jobs, not European Tariffs!

Earlier this month, Democratic Presidential candidate, Sen. John F. Kerry proclaimed foreign leaders were pushing for him to win the election over President George W. Bush.

Many people have shrugged this statement off as empty rhetoric, but the recent actions of the European Union (EU) and Sen. Kerry demonstrate otherwise. In fact, it appears that Kerry is working with the Europeans to impose tariffs on U.S. made products in key swing states to inflict painful job losses and keep the economy down during this election year.

The Foreign Sales Corporations (FSCs) and the extraterritorial income exclusion (ETI) export subsidies were found to be in violation of World Trade Organization (WTO) agreements due to a suit brought by the EU. As of March 1st the EU started to impose tariffs on U.S. made products in key presidential swing states with additional tariffs being levied at the beginning of each month absent changes to the tax law.

President Bush and Congress have put forward a plan to remedy the situation and bring the U.S. tax code into compliance with the WTO ruling. This week, the Senate Democrats, in near unison, filibustered the remedy to ensure the tariffs stay in place.

The Democrats' collaboration with the EU is making U.S. companies less competitive and is resulting in less American jobs.

Take Action! Tell your Senator and Representatives to stop obstructing on jobs for American workers. Urge them to stand with America, not with John Kerry and the Eurocrats!

I am writing today as a concerned taxpayer, to urge you to support the fix of FSC/ ETI and stop the filibuster Kerry hopes to use to keep tariffs in place in swing states.

As you know, recently, the Senate Democrats voted in near unison to ensure American companies are faced with stiff tariffs from the European Union, thus resulting in fewer jobs and less income growth for working Americans.

Earlier this month, Democratic Presidential candidate, Sen. John Kerry proclaimed foreign leaders were pushing for him to win the election over President George W. Bush. I don't trust Nordquisling, but this has the ring of truth to it. Wish I had known this a couple of nights ago so i could have been asking the $1000/plate attendees to the 'Rat Unity Dinner about it.
