Kerry's base is mainly ABB crowd. You have as much chance of prying their vote away from the D vote as you would have trying to pry a freeper from an R vote.

This might work on a few of those waffling "undecided" voters.

The ABB crowd is spamming various boards/email lists w/anti-Bush garbage. They mostly act as drive-by posters and usually are just ignored by the people who wish to stay on topic.

I have been taking the time to respond to these various scurrilous allegations against the POTUS when I encounter them. When I do, suddenly the silent majority of Bush supporters speak up to say *Good post* and the detractors vanish. If the bashers keep it up, the Bush supporters, having seen that they are not alone, begin to fight back and always w/facts.

So, I suggest these class warfare factoids be bookmarked and added to our arsenals. When we are in a situation where a response is needed, we can judiciously use whatever is appropriate. Sometimes it will be a dissection of Kerry's policy, sometimes of his character and always, it will be a refutation of the allegations made constantly against the POTUS.

I really think it is extremely important to not let distorted attacks against the POTUS go unanswered. But I also think it is more important to have positive facts and the truth about this administration and the POTUS/Cabinet posted than to engage in almost ritualized slams against the opposition that the ABB posters use. People will remember the refutations that support the President and pass them on in turn.

There is a cliche in PR that the negative attacks will rebound against the negative speaker. That is only true, IMO, when the negative lies can be refuted w/the positive truths.

John Kerry is not for the common man. He is an internationalist & a socialist. As a kept man who has not worked since a brief stint as a prosecutor, he is clueless about anything out of his own experience. His speeches and TPs are written for him by the old guard attack dogs at the DNC: Shrum, Mulholland, Carville, Begala, et al. They failed in 2000, they failed in 2002 and they failed in the California recall in 2003.We need to exercise some judicious caution in emulating their tactics,

I hate these guys and their MO. But, I really think they are shooting themselves in the foot while simultaneously digging themselves a hole. So, whenever I refute the TPs and lies, I usually sign off by reminding the readers that the progressives poll in the 30th percentile while conservatives poll in the 60th percentile (not party affiliation, but core values) and that these tactics are never going to either dissuade us from exercising our vote as we see fit or convince us to vote for their candidate.

I have found that this gives a lot of courage and support to the usually silent majority. That should be our goal, IMO: to create an atmosphere where normally reticent folks feel confident enough to enter the debate and support the administration in their own words. This gives folks a feeling of having a stake in the debate, rather then being either depressed by the attacks or overwhelmed by the voluminous misinformation. I hope they then go on to use the facts in other venues to support their views.

Anyone who spends enough time on FR has the facts to support our side available almost instictively. In this Internet age, I think we are a valuable asset to the campaign.

JMO.
