On at least two matters in the book of which I have personal knowledge, Clarke has provided an account which is so tendentious as to be downright misleading.
In previous posts I've said that Greg Sheridan is close to the Australian Intelligence community. I think this article is their 'unofficial' testimony that Dick Clarke is a liar and a bullsh*t artist.

Drip drip drip.... Clarke will get what he deserves.
His legacy will be right up there with Bill Clinton's.

Gelbard was ambassador in Jakarta from October 1999 to October 2001, a full three-year term. Um. Yeah, sure.

They need to put the squeeze on him and find out who 'helped' him with his ferry tails....
If he had help, there is a certain unmistakable aroma floating about.

When a Muslim walks down the sidewalk in Spain, the Christian Dhimmi Infidels will step aside to let him pass by without delay.
These Socialist amateurs who won in Spain are delerious now, but will continue to embarass themselves once in office... besides committing faux pas such as endorsing a rival for a seated American President and declaring the Iraq situation a "catastrophe" these clueless idiots will soon make complete asses of themselves on the Domestic front. Spain already has nearly 20% unemployment and Socialists will exasperate that already desperate situation before they will ever find a solution.
Unfortunately, the Socialists' answer for the spiralling failure of socialism, is that there is not enough Socialism, and too much freedom...
Hopefully, this misadventure won't last too long.

Two things. Legacy and pursuit of power at all cost. And as in the past, national security be damned.
To: Broadside Joe
It does have the aroma.

ooops thanks for the correction. Should have said 'down there'.

Clark's jilted-lover behavior is starting to become clear to those outside Republican circles.
Clark is just peeved that he did not get the #2 position at Homeland Security along with the attention and glory.
If he was given that post, all we would hear from him is how great a job he is doing in protecting America.
The guy is just an egotistical snot.
To: Erik Latranyi
Agreed. I'll even take it a few steps further. He was mad because he didn't have the keys to the White House's back door like he did with slick willy. And perhaps he thought that he should have Condi's job. After all, he's been in the government for '30 years', he's entitled.

Interesting Aussie rebuttal to some things in Clark's book.
