"I live in the boondocks in Minnesota, so I know what lousy late-night AM radio reception is like"

You've probably got just about the best solution in using the Internet to access radio
talk-shows...but just in case you've missed the C. Crane radio ads (usually on the Art
Bell Show, LOL!), you might want to check them out.
While pricey, I guess they do make good AM radios and some really potent AM antennae:

I'm a little distant from NYC out on eastern Long Island, and especially at night my reception leaves something to be desired.

The thing that's strange about that is that I have digital cable, and have had DirecTV - and although both provide some vanilla music channels, neither of them provides talk "radio" audio. Must be your tax dollars at work in the FCC somehow. You'd think digital cable would come with a seperate FM output to give you solid reception of "local" AM signals superimposed on locally unused FM bands.

You can recommend the AM antennae?
