Not saying it's not true but, let's wait to see how this shakes out before we get too far into speculation about it. Nothing worse than being taken in by an urban legend... or a partisan trick of some kind.I'm not following your thinking.
Are you claiming Nicosia didn't really have a break in? I and others agree, that is possible.
What's the "urban legend" part, though. The man has in fact reported a break in and in fact reported what's missing: Files on John Kerry. There are two choices: He either really had files stolen or he's conveniently lost them and reported them stolen.
As to the partisan trick--the dems playing a trick on themselves?
I don' get what you're trying to say here.

Good question, and I'm not really trying to say anything. But things like this are staged once in a while, for various reasons, and everybody who got excited at the time comes off looking like a hothead.
The phrase 'Urban Legend' was ill-chosen. And I'm not chiding anyone here. It's just that it's so tempting to jump to the conclusion that Kerry people are up to something that I'd kind of like to wait and see what develops.

If something that is possibly damaging to Kerry is 'stolen' from his supporter....the friendly media can be relied upon to blame it on the 'right wingers'.
The 'victim' doesn't identify exactly what is missing so ANY derrogatory information that is revealed about Kerry's activities during that period will be construed as material taken in the burglary.

Well, what if Nicosia was "told" to report a break in? That he was pressured to have certain files go "missing"?

There are two choices: He either really had files stolen or he's conveniently lost them and reported them stolen. That might attract some attention to his story if he cough... cough... had them stolen. Maybe he should make up a fictitious source, give him a porno name and write a book.;)
