There is an Air National Guard unit at RDU that have Apache's that are currently deployed in Afghanistan. Don't know about F-18s though.

I know I've passed that ANG sign many times when headed to/from RDU.

Perhaps someone should point out to the national media and to Senator Kerry that being a National Guard pilot is not hazard-free duty.

Air National Guard doesn't fly Apaches. If they fly Apache's they must be Army National Guard.
