Republican Party has ignored its principles
The Greenville News ^ | March 26, 2004 | Robert G. Butch Taylor (letter to the editor)

Edited on 05/07/2004 9:06:02 PM PDT by Jim Robinson. [history]

In a recent letter to the president of the United States, I informed him of my resignation from the Republican Party in Greenville. I shall continue to be involved in the local political arena, but not as a Republican.

I am sick and tired of the Republicans selling us down the river. No matter how hard I try to institute positive change, Republicans and the Republican Party ignore my pleas. For this reason I have joined the U.S. Constitution Party and urge other conservatives to do the same.

Also, Ford pardoned Nixon before there was any convition. So therefore you can have a pardon of crimes without a conviction.

How about this, just enforce the laws we have. That is what is asked when new gun laws are proposed, why not the same here?

LOL! Really?

I AM a southerner. My mom's family is from Montgomery, Al. and my dad's is from Austin, TX. I live in Louisiana. I am as southern as anyone you will ever know.

I posted the ficitious political parties off the top of my head. I didn't realize they would be taken as a sectional put-down. I just thought up the goofiest names I could. I wanted them to sound ignorant not southern.

My intent was not to stereotype anyone, but to point out the absurdity of splitting the conservative vote amongst various splinter parties thus ensuring Kerry to win the Presidency.

My principle is to do everything in my power to deny the Presidency of my great nation to John Freaking Kerry.

I do know the differences between Bush and Kerry. The reason you hear me complaining about Bush is that he is the man in charge, not Kerry. He is the man that is supposed to be a conservative, not Kerry. When Bush does something liberal, I will let it be known. If Kerry was the one in charge, I would do the same to him. Don't mistake lack of comment on Kerry as being pro Kerry.

As for reality, you are the one that needs to see it. Only seeing half the picture is not reality.

Why are you sharing Mr. Taylor's self-centered, self-serving tantrum with us?

Because I think Dubya will have a better chance of beating Kerry if he changes some of his policies to recapture the conservative votes that he's losing.

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you get what you need.

And IMO, Kerry and his polices are not needed for this country.

Your well thought out and deeply intellectual analysis has changed my mind. I am now safely back in the Republican camp.

I agree with that. The republican party is becoming liberal, and I plan to join the Constitution Party.

So it is ok for you, being a southerner, to spout stereotype about southerners? Like blacks can call each other n****r? How about helping end the BS by not doing it yourself, one less person that will tell others it is ok to keep it up.

Just because the person in the article said that they would not support bush, does not mean that all people in 3rd parties will.

Why can't we? We hold both houses and the big house, there is no excuse for the education bill, drug bill, etc.

They constitution party needs to wake up. As long as the democrat party exists in any form, their party is irrelevant.

Self-fulfilling prophesy. And it's you "negotiable principle" types that will ensure it.

Yes, those are good, but he also hiked government spending while doing it. He is settling for moderation, and we need something else.

Yes, those are good, but he also hiked government spending while doing it. As much as I like Bush, he is settling for moderation, and we need something else, that will stick to our country's principles.

You now consider yourself part of "we"?

Sorry but considering your rhetoric on this thread, the only "we" I can ascertain from your posts, is that you are trying to "wee-wee" over the possibility of a second Bush term with your self-absorbed "my way or the highway" rantings, while ignoring the reality of Kerry and the demos.

How many here have read the Republican Party Platform of 1900? In case you have not, I urge you to. There was a reason why the Anarchists and proto Communists hated McKinley. I often wonder what our "alternative ending" would have been if McKinley had not been killed. I wonder if even back then, the proto Globalist utopians saw the McKinley Doctrine as a threat to budding 3rd way plans.
