[history]
At the urging of reporters, the White House often allows bits of "background" information to be put on the record. But it's rare for it to release an entire background briefing, and virtually unheard of to do it 18 months after the fact and after the briefer has left the administration.

Andrea Mitchell was at that briefing too. Can't say what I think about her, I'd get banned.

Well, what is their answer to this: if a reporter knows a person is lying, are they just suppose to sit back while a guy takes down the entire government?
If politicians lie, when is it that that is NOT news?
Are reporters suppose to be complicit in the lies?

It is the media doing its job to point out lies under oath.

The impression I have is that some of these reporters don't keep tapes or notes of briefings that they 'disagree' with. And then if something ever happens, they can just say they don't remember and don't have any documentation on the matter.
Excellent comments. I guess if Jim Angle was so "right-wing" they'd listen to him. Maybe.

Well, that's what I thought, but as I am sure you know, the rules seemed to have changed.

Terry Moran WAS one of the 5 reporters who was informed of the waiver and could have printed this NEWS.

In a twist on Fox News' motto, Kerrey said, "I mean, Fox should say 'occasionally fair and balanced' after putting something like this out, because they violated a serious trust."In other words, lying is more noble than exposing the lie.

Jim Angle should win an award for doing what they all should be doing.....
Presenting the facts.....We'll decide.

Funny. Shouldn't the story be about the 'man of the week' being caught in lies. Nope, for USAToday, the story is about FoxNews' bias, and the White House granting permission.

Yesterday after they gave Angle approval to release that tape, the White House called ALL the reporters that were in that briefing and said that they were releasing them from their confidentiality.
I made sure I watched ALL the networks to see who reported it.
ABC
NBC
CBS
CNN
FOX
Now, my question is this: those other four KNEW he was lying and did NOTHING until Jim Angle flushed them out. I am furious about that.
Plus, tonight I was watching the ABC show on Rumsfeld, and there is Mr. Clarke, and right under his name is the little ABC logo, and the words "ABC Political Consultant."
There will NOT be anymore ABC at THIS house, I can assure you of that.

and then you watch Chris Matthews interview the 9/11 partisan widow kristin breitweister, who can't find enough things regarding 9/11 to blame Bush about, and his final question to her "do you believe Clarke is telling the truth". no mention about any of these conflicting statements.
To: Howlin
You hit the nail on the head, Howlin.
And KUDOS to Jim Angle.
I wonder how Clark's readers are going to feel when they realize they spent so much money to buy a liar's book?

This is a prime example of just how corrupt the media in this country has become. They will allow a lie to be told to the people as long as it fits their agenda. These people are beneath scum. Where are their ethics? Where are their morals? Journalists used to be crusaders for truth, now they are just lowlife scum.

Spot on!
Critics said the timing during the commission's televised hearings underscored the lengths to which the administration is willing to go to undermine Clarke's credibility.
Translation for those of us who can see clearly...the lengths to which this administration will go to expose Clark for the umittigated liar that he is.
