What exactly was so wrong with what the guy said? As my mother would say, "It's not what you said, but how you said it." I got slapped more often for my tone of voice than I ever did the actual words. (And rightfully so.)

The difference between your mother slapping you and Richard Simmons slapping a stranger at the airport is that in most places, what your mom did isn't against the law. It is socially disturbing behavior for Simmons to think he can get go and slap someone for a comment. I hope the guy sues him.
