About all this viscious attack on "The Passion of Christ", no words are more applicable than those attributed to the Pope. "It is as it was". Of course, I've here shifted what the meaning of "it" is.

Bill Leonard says the most overarching critique is that the story shortchanges God. "When you limit the gospel story only to the crucifixion -- when you don't have the story of the prodigal son, the words of the Sermon on the Mount," he says, "It doesn't tell the story that Jesus shows us what God is like. The love of God is not simply revealed in the brutality of the cross."

Is this guy aware of what a passion play is, or what the stations of the cross are? This article shows more about the ignorance of so-called religious experts than anything else.

Gee, get five liberal religious professionals to criticize and no one to rebut who supports the movie. That's not "fair and balanced".

Fred Horton is OK. In the two years of Sunday School I attended with him, he always presented the facts as he uncovered them as well as the conclusions he drew and why. I never detected a liberal agenda.

Five deeply spiritual blah blah criticize.

That's really all you have to say; spiritualist with pompous aires. A friend of mine and I had a wonderful discussion about the difference between "spiritual" and "religious", with our conclusion that spiritual people are ones who usually bend and mold religion to suit their own selfish purposes, and Mr Hunt here exposes the irrelevancy of his panel's "incendiary" remarks.

These types are so bitterly cynical about this strict religious art they can barely keep the froth sucked back in their mouths. If they had any idea how their hysterical rants are so transparent and comical, I am certain people this obviously pretentious would never speak on the topic.

May your lips extol HIS praise!!!

Matthew 1:20
But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 2:22-23
 22.  But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee,
 23.  and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets: "He will be called a Nazarene."

Matthew 8:26
He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

Matthew 10:22-33
 22.  All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.
 23.  When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. I tell you the truth, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes.
 24.  "A student is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master.
 25.  It is enough for the student to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebub,  how much more the members of his household!
 26.  "So do not be afraid of them. There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.
 27.  What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs.
 28.  Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
 29.  Are not two sparrows sold for a penny ? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.
 30.  And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
 31.  So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
 32.  "Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven.
 33.  But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.

Matthew 14:25-33
 25.  During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.
 26.  When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. "It's a ghost," they said, and cried out in fear.
 27.  But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid."
 28.  "Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water."
 29.  "Come," he said.   Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
 30.  But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!"
 31.  Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?"
 32.  And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down.
 33.  Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God."

Matthew 17:5-8
 5.  While he was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!"
 6.  When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown to the ground, terrified.
 7.  But Jesus came and touched them. "Get up," he said. "Don't be afraid."
 8.  When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus.

Matthew 28:9-10
  9.  Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him.
 10.  Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me."

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Acts 27:23-24
 23.  Last night an angel of the God whose I am and whom I serve stood beside me
 24.  and said, `Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.'

Hebrews 13:6
.  So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"

Revelation 1:17-18
 17.  When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.
 18.  I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.

Mark 5:32-34
 32.  But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it.
 33.  Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth.
 34.  He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering."

Luke 2:9-11
  9.  An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
 10.  But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.
 11.  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ  the Lord.

John 12:42-43
 42.  Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not confess their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue;
 43.  for they loved praise from men more than praise from God.

John 19:38
Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jews. With Pilate's permission, he came and took the body away.

John 20:19
On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!"

Acts 9:27-28
 27.  But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. He told them how Saul on his journey had seen the Lord and that the Lord had spoken to him, and how in Damascus he had preached fearlessly in the name of Jesus.
 28.  So Saul stayed with them and moved about freely in Jerusalem, speaking boldly in the name of the Lord.

Truth is violated by falsehood,
but it is outraged by silence.

According to Christopher Hitchens:
HE showed the film at the Vatican, and then claimed that the Pope had endorsed it - a claim that the Vatican has flatly denied...

I tend to believe Hitchens. Regardless of the content, since when does the Pope review and endorse movies ?
