I suspect Kerrey will have to offer some sort of apology. Fox had every right to report the story since they recieved a waiver.

Kerrey should know better. There is a trust when information is provided as background but there is no way that the "backgrounder" should be able to use that trust as a shield to lie - that's right, lie - about the same subject in public. Fox had a right AND A DUTY to expose Clarke's obvious lies. Mr. Kerrey, Richard Clarke is the one who violated a serious trust here.

And by the way, I'm willing to wager that there are HUNDREDS of instances where Members of Congress make public statements that contradict information they have received in classified briefings but they do so anyway, safe in the knowledge that the administration will not break security to out the lying Senator or Representative. You all got so used to that protection, that Clarke assumed he could get away with the lies here.

Thanks. That's certainly revealing. And blows Kerrey's argument out of the water. Too bad one of the republicans on the commission didn't bring that up.
Too bad one of the republicans didn't have the nerve to ask for the clapping to be stopped. Too bad the republicans didn't object to having Roemer (someone whom, it seems to me, would have had contact and dealings with the FBI under Reno - the FBI taking a lot of heat in these hearings) on this commission due to a conflict of interest.
(wasn't it Reno (Roemer's boss) who paralyzed the FBI?)
And too bad the republicans didn't correct each of the democrats who said that Rice refused to come and answer questions. How hard is it to say "she spent 4 hours with us answering questions"?
And where are the rest of the republicans in Washington?
Why are they silent? Why don't they ever seem to defend President Bush?

Consider it done. Kerrey's legacy in the state of Nebraska is a chain of pizza restaurants and the aftermath of his fling with Debra Winger. Gag.

It's rather apparent that Clarke is nothing more than an anti-Iraq-War malcontent who has abused his positions within several administrations.

And not only all that, but he can't even get some of the most simple and easily verifiable facts straight, which make him look like even more of a sad-sack. A flyweight should try to avoid picking fights with the heavyweights.

Do Republicans think President Bush's reelection is in the bag? or are they AFRAID that IF President Bush loses they will be at the losing end of Demo/Lib revenge?

Cowards.

The funniest remarks at the so-called investigative committe hearings was that lib whiner complaining about being "betrayed" by having this audio released.
Of course, this POS simeball, referred to by many who worked with him as a "megalomaniac" ("legend in his own mind", for those of you in Rio Linda), didn't bring it on himself when he wrote and published a hissy fit. Why should contradictory statements made as part of his record not remain part of the official record?

William Arkin, who has been critical of the Bush Administration from the get-go said something telling this morning. He indicated that Clarke was known as someone who "cried wolf," and that when he was held over into the present Bush Administration, he had the reputation of someone who was hyperbolic in his description of impending doom (the Y2K fiasco, in particular). He said Clarke had "cried wolf" one too many times.

It is understandable how Clarke's ineffectiveness during the Clinton Administration, coupled with his abrasive and "hair on fire" attitude would lead those in the Bush Administration to marginalize this guy.

Kerrey was made a fool of, so he had to whine. He looked like an idiot and a weakling.

"And so, this would put, if we started aiding the Northern Alliance against the Taliban, this would have put us directly in opposition to the Pakistani government. These are not easy decisions."

After 8 years of Klintoon administration, we know they never made anything but the easy decisions. No one there was capable of making hard decisions or doing the right thing for America.

Angle also reported that the other reporters present were also given the waiver.

These reporters sat on it. Suppression of legitimate news is CENSORSHIP. Journalists usually get up in arms defending the 1st Amendment. Who is helped and who is harmed by this omission? You guessed it! Bias, anyone?

When you get your answer to "Where were the Republicans' voices at the hearings" - please post me.
I have about had it up to here with their silence while their President is getting crucified.
What they don't seem to understand is that many of us like our President more than we like them and this hiding under a rock does not endear them to us.
