I am sorry that you did not understand what author was saying. It was a fable, a mental exercise to demonstrate that there is no other way but to fight, and alternative can be only totally defenseless and stupid pacifism.  You glanced through irony and spent tons of time rebutting the points that he intentionally put there to demonstrate their folly.

Since we cannot negotiate or surrender, even if we wished to, our only realistic alternative to fighting our enemies is to adopt the attitude of the Eloi, and to ignore the deaths of those of us whom they kill, and to go our merry way as if nothing had happened to them.

Did you for a second thought that it is what he advocates? He got you. He assumed that any reasonable person would be appalled with such alternative (you did of course), but it is the ONLY reasonable alternative to fighting. He assumed (he made a mistake with you) that his own position is clear.

He does not have a fight with you. His fight is with Leftists intellectuals who unwittingly (lets be charitable) help the enemy.

You also went with some personal attacks.

Well, I guess the joke must be on me - as well as other posters to this thread. It seems others got the same impression I got - that the author was advancing surrender as a quality means of dealing with the madmen. Which brings me back to one point I made in my last post. If the author cannot explain it so that the vast majority of us "low-brows" can understand, than he has lost the audience. Unless of course, his main audience are the elite thinkers and the mensa grads.

I guess you got me too. If it seems that I attacked either you or the author personnaly, I guess it is because I am thin-skinned to the degree that I take offense at those individuals that tout their suppose intellectual abilities while dismissing those who just can't seem to grasp the "nuances" of the intellectual argument, fable, mental exercise, or whatever term you wish to use to excuse this tripe. The author failed to let the reader in that his ramblings were an intellectual argument against leftists.
