Over the years, I have been able to discern whether a movie, book, television program, record, etc., is worth listening to, watching, or read from snippets of same. Take movies for instance - there are some movies with some actors, actresses, and even directors, that I will not watch. More recently because of their political leanings but also because I know that these guys are terrible artists. Getting back to books, look at the track record. This guy sounds like a loon and I think it is very telling that the same publisher that put out Clarke's book published this one. Like I tell people, I do not have to hit my hand with a hammer to know it will hurt.

Respectively disagree.
Some of his views are not mainstream. But his approach to "fantasy ideologies" explains many otherwise unexplainable things. One does not have to subscribe 100% to another person views to see the value in them. His thoughts are subject to debate. I am sorry to see them dismissed so easily. Check the post #12 for the list of his most important articles.
I just finished his book. It is not an easy read. But his thoughts about nature of the power and how civilization comes about are VERY interesting.
