[history]
ONE OF President Bush's worst nominations for a lifetime judicial appointment -- and there is plenty of competition in this category -- is about to come up for a vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee.
As with a number of Bush's nominees, William G. Myers III has a long record of ideological extremism that raises questions about his suitability for the federal judiciary. What distinguishes Myers from the others is that the controversy is not focused on his views on abortion or civil rights.

Let's see... Pat Lehay, Chuck Schumer, and Dianne Feinstein don't like him because they're afraid he might be ideologically extreme.
OK, got it, just wanted to make sure I was reading that right.

He seems almost too good to make it.

... vocal opposition to even the most reasonable regulations is particularly disturbing .... Depends on what an environmental extremist considers "most reasonable" .. doesn't it?
he compared federal management of public lands to "the tyrannical actions of King George" in taxing American colonists. Myers demurred with a vague response about the frustration of the livestock industry with federal management.
Like the Diamondback Ranch vs. The National Parks service? The confiscation of cattle? The denial of 100 year old water rights?
logging on national forests, racial discrimination in the placement of waste treatment plants and protection of irrigation canals from toxic chemicals.
Logging.. no problem. charge a fair fee to the loggers, require that any timber harvested be sold to U.S. companies or customers..
Waste treatment plants; not sure what the racial discrimination is about here.. placing them in minority areas? Doesn't that mean local jobs? Or not placing them in minority areas? Do they need a waste treatment facility?
Protection of Irrigation canals from toxic chemicals.. Sounds good, what constitutes "protection" and what constitutes "toxic chemicals"?
I could go with some leniency on the toxic chemicals if all it affected was kangaroo rats and liberals.

Feinstein, a potentially pivotal vote, said through an aide Tuesday that she would vote against this ill-advised nomination
OK, I don't even know the guy but if she's against him, that tells me that he is a good man.

An outstanding man who will fight for private property rights, crush the eco-fascists and follow the constitution. Yep, in these days he is a radical.
