I don't know - I think it is conservative first and Republican second. I think the GOP'ers are a little more vocal than the others on this forum but it is because they are so repressed by the party proper.

Perhaps. And that is a very good point to distinguish the average joe that is a pretty good guy and the republican party aperatchick that simply can not tolerate the Constitution and Bill of Rights no more than a Vampire can handle daylight.

Basically, the problem trancends parties and comes down to this. Go anywhere -- from a shopping mall in L.A. to a barbecue in Peoria and it is really really difficult to find many people that are actually prepared to live w/o their precious nanny state in jack boots.

Anyway, no need to bash repubs any more... I simply meant to point out another stage of Freepin' -- Call it the "Oh my gosh there simply aren't many of us that actually, truly, really want to live by the Law of the Land" stage.

You could be right but it seems to me that most of the "Republicans" posting on this site lean heavily to the Libertarian end of the Republican spectrum. As for myself, I have never been a member of a political party and tend toward the Randian/Libertarian sphere of politics. It would be interesting to have a Freeper poll to settle the question. In any case, Freep On!
