I can understand how our jaw muscles could weaken over time, but how does a new area (the brain) expand without a need for it to do so. This is not evolution but wishful thinking.

In evolution an ability is created when there is a need, not before. Or is evolution really devolution?

I agree. It goes beyond "wishful thinking" to "just plain sillyness".

I don't really think "chewing" was on the high priority list cuz it was a given. We knew how to eat.

The question was how do we bring home more bacon before Wilma started to nag "You're never home". The answer: grow your brain or remain henpecked. That's too easy.
