THE STRANGE CASE OF CASEY NETHERCOTT (Does AZ have a dictator Governor?)

Our landowner host, Casey Nethercott, was again thrown into jail on Friday 27 February in Tucson.
He had appeared in court for a hearing on his bond status while he awaits trial in Texas. The Assistant County Attorney in Jim Hogg County, Rudy Gutierrez, lied to the prosecutor here in Arizona and had Casey thrown in jail again. He was in jail for about two hours, and then was released when he pointed out to a judge that he had already posted bond in excess of the amount that the prosecutor was asking for.
The warrant for Casey's arrest on Friday was signed by the Governor of Arizona, Janet Napalitano herself. This was done under the provisions of the Patriot Act.
Casey has to appear in court in Tucson again Monday 1 March 2004, at 2:30 PM Arizona time. He fully expects to be thrown into jail AGAIN, despite the fact that he has already posted a bond to guarantee his appearance in Texas on 15 March 2004.
Even though he has posted bond, the state of Arizona is abusing their powers under the Patriot Act to deny Mr Nethercott his Constitutional rights as a Citizen of the USA.
What the state of Arizona is saying, in an indirect way, is that they are stripping Mr Nethercott of his Constitutional rights, simply because they now can.
This marks the end of Constitutional law in the state of Arizona, if not the entire nation. Our rights are now gone, and we can all now be summarily thrown into jail even though bail has already been posted and appearance has been guaranteed. What of our rights will they remove next?

Given that it is 24 March 2004, perhaps you can enlighten us as to whether he was thrown in jail Monday 1 March 2004 and whether he appeared in Texas 15 March 2004.

What was the original Texas charge?
How is this the end to constitutional government in AZ?

Casey has to appear in court in Tucson again Monday 1 March 2004...he has already posted a bond to guarantee his appearance in Texas on 15 March 2004. Ummm...it's March 24, 2004. All of this is around one-and-a-half to three weeks old. Why is it being spoken of in the future or present tense here?
Moreover, this missive is insanely short on facts.
This isn't news, it's a poorly-written editorial.

Out of date. Out of information. Out of content. How about filling in the missing information, instead of posting self-serving press releases?

I just saw this today and have many questions as well. It was/is posted at PhxNews. I did go to another link provided from that site which says:
http://www.ranchrescue.com/ "Casey Nethercott, the owner of the Arizona ranch where Operation Thunderbird is ongoing, was thrown into jail in Tucson on Monday 1 March 2004 on the authority of nothing more than the Arizona Governor's signature alone. His civil rights have been stripped, and he is being held without bond.
As of 22 March 2004, Casey Nethercott has been removed from the custody of the Pima County Jail and there has been no explanation as to where he has been taken. He could be anywhere, including back in the hands of the ruthless "Texas Taliban", the organized criminal enterprise that masquerades as a legitimate county government in Jim Hogg County, Texas."
I am just as confused as many others are on this matter.

I totally agree with all of you. It is out of date and very poorly written. I cannot find what the heck the charges are! Looks like one of those things that has been swept under the carpet by all sides. The least "his" side could do is provide factual information instead of skirting around the issue(s).

Rescue Ranch Rescue!
By Juan Mann
Due process is taking a beating in South Texas.
For the past two weeks, politically-correct forces have been throwing the book at two members of Ranch Rescue who were arrested after having the audacity to help a Hebbronville, Texas property owner evict criminal trespassers.
Hank Conner, 62, of Lafayette, La, and Casey Nethercott, 35, of La Mirada Calif., were arrested on March 19 by the Jim Hogg County Sheriff and a Texas Ranger. The volunteers were charged with assaulting an unnamed El Salvadoran national who they encountered on the property and escorted out to a public road. The Ranch Rescue group, and an independent eyewitnessFrench journalist Eric Boye who accompanied the two meninsist that the charges are false.
After almost two weeks in custody, Conner was released on $200,000 bail on March 28.
But as of April 2, Nethercott remains in jail in Falfurrias, Texas, with a $200,000 bail on his head. The saga continues.
A habeas corpus petition for Nethercotts release was denied April 1 in the states 229th District Court. The ruling can be appealed to the states 4th Court of Appeals in San Antonio.
Ranch Rescue spokesman Jack Foote swears that the assault charges arent true.
Foote reports that his two volunteers were denied medical treatment for the first two days after their arrest. Nethercott is being kept in solitary confinement at a detention facility with no TV, no radio, no newspapers, no magazines, no books, not even a Bible, according to Foote.
Casey Nethercott is being held as a hostage in many respects, according to Ranch Rescue California coordinator Stacy Polk. His county-appointed attorney will not see him, so he only has me to talk with at night when he gets his one phone call.
To hire an attorney is going to cost lots more than we have. They are using Casey as their poster child for abuse of power in Southern Texas. They do not want him out.
So if an independent eyewitness a Frenchman, no less swears that the men did nothing wrong, why were Conner and Nethercott arrested in the first place?
VDARE.COM readers already know the answer.
Remember that Ranch Rescue volunteers recently demonstrated their prowess in stopping marijuana-hauling mules along the Mexican border in Arizona.
A volunteer tactical team with many years of military and law enforcement experience captured and turned over 279 pounds of marijuana to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff in just one evening in October, 2002.
Their efforts were recognized in the media. They were lauded in a feature series in Soldier of Fortune magazine.
Ranch Rescue already proved what theyre doing works.
Though their efforts may be largely symbolic, they are part of the solution for border area landowners trying to cope with the illegal alien invasion.
Ranch Rescues motto: private property first, foremost, and always."
The South Texas ranch where Nethercott and Conner were volunteering just happens to be a high-traffic area for illegal aliens, alien smugglers and drug smugglers. They trespass on the ranch to avoid a nearby Border Patrol checkpoint.
Ranch owner Joe Sutton had enough. He called Ranch Rescue. The group volunteered in a project they called Operation Falcon. And for their troubles, two of the volunteers were thrown in jail.
So how can the average citizen compete against a governments tyranny of good intentions?
Does the Nethercott and Conner affair prove the death of due process in Jim Hogg County?
Paul Craig Roberts, call your office!
How VDARE.COM can help:
Nethercott and Conner could use some pro bono legal help. Make a donation to their legal defense fund.
Ranch Rescue also asks you to give the South Texas authorities a piece of your mind.

This goes from being an outdated thread to one that now is seeing into the future. Curiouser and curiouser.

The warrant for Casey's arrest on Friday was signed by the Governor of Arizona, Janet Napalitano herself. This was done under the provisions of the Patriot Act. Wrong. It was a Governors Fugitive Warrant based the information that Texas provided Arizona law enforcement.
This had nothing to do with the Patriot Act and the folks spreading this misinformation know it.

I cannot find what the heck the charges are! He was charged with assault in Texas.
The charges state that he pistol whipped an illegal alien. I have no idea if he did or not.
Casey is a convicted felon in California and if he was in the possession of a firearm, then that would be another charge. Also, Arizona has no record of Casey owning any property here. The property in question, is owned by another man.
Jack Foote, the head guy at what is left of Ranch Rescue has spread lots of misinformation about this case, in an effort to gain public support.
It's a long story, of which I know only a little of. Just recently, 11 of the Ranch Rescue state coordinators left the organization because of Jack Foote.

MI,
Haven't been to this site for awhile. Sorry.
Check RR's site. Everything has been cancelled and Nethercott is no longer the RR posterboy.
I have a feeling Nethercott is telling the feds all about Foote and his scams. I know for a fact that the FBI is looking into Foote's financial MIS-dealings.
I have word from someone I trust that Foote was looking to make a deal and give up Nethercott to save his own a**. Perhaps Nethercott found out and decided to be the first to roll over.
For those on this forum who think of Foote as a hero, be advised that, in my opinion and the opinions of many who have worked with him, he is a liar, thief and coward. He has lied TO me and ABOUT me and caused my wallet to become lighter. And I am not the only one!
Other anti-illegal alien websites have deleted Ranch Rescue's link from their pages. United Patriots of America, Civil Homeland Defense, American Border Patrol, etc, no longer link to RR.
I think Foote is going away for awhile!!

Ranch Rescue members are advised not to call or visit the property near Douglas Arizona formerly known as "Camp Thunderbird". There is no longer any Ranch Rescue presence on Mr Nethercott's property. Please do not send funds to the Douglas PO Box address for Ranch Rescue Arizona. The correct address for donations to Ranch Rescue appears below. Please do NOT send checks made out to "Casey Nethercott" under any circumstances. The Ranch Rescue network is no longer associated with Mr Nethercott or Camp Thunderbird.
The Convention for the Arizona Citizen's Militia on 17 April 2004 has been cancelled.
Operation Thunderbird has been concluded. Operation Jaguar and Operation Minuteman have been cancelled.
This was posted on RR's site today.
Looks like Jack's running scared.
