He's in a pickle, as he either has to say that the Clinton policy was not as he described in the backgrounder, or he needs to say that GW et al did not "vigorously pursue" the existing policy, which then argues against what he himself and others have stated in the past.He'll probably claim that he was forced to lie in this press conference.

Yeah, that's my sense too. The other concern I have is that the great bloated behemoth that is the American electorate has already had its eyes glaze over regarding this, and is in too deep a stupor to have this contradiction register on its consciousness.
