Oh my. Clarke has stepped in it, big time, as they say.
To: ShandaLear
Congratulations you win the prize of posting it first.

JIM ANGLE: You're saying that the Bush administration did not stop anything that the Clinton administration was doing while it was making these decisions, and by the end of the summer had increased money for covert action five-fold. Is that correct?
CLARKE: All of that's correct.
Unless I can make a bucket full of money saying the opposite.

Yes, he's apparently stepped-into-it big time, but he managed to inflict irreparable damage, damn him.

I'll be pissed if this isn't brought up at the hearing today.
To: ShandaLear
One has to wonder about reporters like Andrea Mitchell -- who is apparently the Andrea mentioned by Clarke in this briefing. All of the reporters present at this meeting had to know that either Clarke was lying during the meeting or that he is lying now. And yet Jim Angle at Fox has been the only reporter to call Clarke on it.
To: ShandaLear
I think the overall point is, there was no plan on Al Qaeda that was passed from the Clinton administration to the Bush administration.

Hopefully someone's putting this into the hands of the Republican committee members now.

The reporters played along with Clarke's new charges- even though they KNEW he'd said this.
It's constantly amazing how hard the press tries to destroy it's credibility with the public- yet never manages to completely succeed!
