BLOOMINGTON, Illinois (AP) -- Rescue crews searched five states Tuesday for a plane carrying six people who were returning to Illinois from a weekend NASCAR race in South Carolina, authorities said.
Civil Air Patrol crews flew over the projected flight path of the private, single-engine plane, covering parts of Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana and Illinois.

Homeland Security/Kentucky PING!
Folks, the news wires are old, but this is an event in progress.
I'm at the Ops Center at this hour, and the crews are out there, struggling with terrian to keep the search up.
There's some bad information being put out by certain news agencies, but at this hour, nothing has been found.

There are 5 Civil Air Patrol wings involed in this search. These guys are men and women who volunteer to serve the community.

CAP is on the ground in KY, trying to co-ordinate stuff.
Those guys are busy down there. Black Mountain is in some forbidding land. No roads, and hard on rotary-wing aircraft...

This has been a big story around here since the folks in the plane are from Congerville and Normal, just a few miles from here. I'm expecting the worst but we're all still hoping and praying.

Thoughts go with you, FRiends.
Right now, the search is mainly local volunteers and county LEO's, with KyEM and CAP liaisons. National Guard is standing by, but there's just nothing to do yet...

Neither. Altitude. They're flying above 3500 ft, with 2000 ft altitude changes within a mile.

PING to Rags.
The hyenas also known as The Media are claiming to be "live at the crash site."
Either they know something WE don't, or they're liars. There's been no wreckage found at this hour.

Thank You for your service to our country.
People seem to overlook the other missions that the military does.
In my opinion the military, wherever they are stationed, are just as valuable as anyone else is.

Keeping the passengers, crew, and search team in prayer - their Homeland Security helpers, as well.
Please ping when you hear facts from your reliable sources. Thank you!

Funny you mention that, because...
Latest is, the assets involved are shifting - the search area is being expanded. They can also cover the area more effectively, this way.
Still negative contact reports coming out of eastern KY.
To: Old Sarge
Thanks, Sarge. Expanding prayers.

And the search goes on at this hour. Ground teams only; the light's fading. KSP is riding with each search team; they have better comms that the teams themselves.
