Californians probably think racial preferences in college admissions ended in 1996 when voters approved Proposition 209. But John Moores, chairman of the Board of Regents of the University of California, says some UC administrators have been manipulating the system and defying the law for the past eight years. Last week Mr. Moores's fellow regents voted 8-6 to censure him for expressing these views in a recent Forbes magazine opinion piece. A medal is more like what the man deserves.

Proponents of Prop 209 have had to sue public entities into adhering to the California Constitutionalized writ of "no preferential affirmative action" policies. San Francisco electors openly flouted their intent to NOT enact Prop 209. And so did SAG, Bill Lockyer. Ward Connerly put forward Prop 54, which lost in the "total recall" election. What I found typical besides the lies spewed about Prop 54; was the presentation to the UC Regents by a woman, now holding official title within the CA "academic" circle; who was formerly executive director of the CA ACLU. It was psycho-legalese, suggesting that all "info" be spun in other ways. An amazing doc. Posted last year.

Wow, Moores is a DAVIS appointee?

When does Arnold get to start tapping Regents? I think they serve rolling terms ... Here's hoping he picks only those who oppose racial preferences.

We're in for the long haul here. Terms. Moore was appointed during Davis' time of trying to be a "moderate".

I only found 16 appointed members on the website, but there are supposed to be 18. Since they serve 12-year terms that expire March 1st, perhaps there are two new vacancies.

Here's hoping he picks only those who oppose racial preferences.

I hope so, too!
