I think we all have our role to play. Some are called to be attack dogs, some are called to be gentle prodders, while others of us post online and write letters. Shall the attack dog say to the letter writer, "I don't need you." Or shall the prodder say to the attack dog, "Your responses are always too harsh." No we are many parts but the same VRWC.

On one of his early book tours, Hannity was speaking on the topic "Liberalism as a Danger to the Nation." His deep knowledge of the dangers of liberalism actually enabled him to win the attention of the numerous Democrats in the hall. Almost raptly, they followed his logical argument, and when he had finished their confidence in their former ideals had been deeply shaken.

A Democrat rabblerouser felt called to prevent a mass defection from the Democratic camp. He attempted to conceal his lack of factual arguments by hypocritical attacks against conservative principles. He probably thought he had shredded Hannity.

He was surprised as the Hannity stood up without the least hint of excitement and calmly began:

"This guy's ridiculous remarks are astounding due to their lack of positive knowledge. It sounds as if he is not entirely sure of his own principles. I would like to ask him an honest question: Has he carefully and conscientiously read the six books by the liberal prophet Karl Marx?"

A loud and clear "I am a Democrat, not a Marxist. Not all liberals are communists!" was the answer.

Hannity repeated the question and asked for a direct answer. He said, "Well if you can distinguish between your party's views and Marx's, you need to tell me you have read all six books."

This time the Democrat responded with a firm "Yes! I have read them all and I definitely know the difference between American liberalism and Marxism."

Hannity smiled slightly as he asked for a third time:

"I ask my friend the Democrat yet again: Have you really read all six books that Karl Marx wrote, without missing one of them or skipping a chapter?"

The Democrat bigwig, clearly proud of his wisdom, said: "Yes, every one without exception!"

"Then you are the biggest liar and fool I have ever met," Hannity responded. "How can you have read six books by Karl Marx when he actually only wrote three?! You claim to know the difference between liberalism and Marxism when you don’t even really know what a Marxist is! You betray and deceive members of your own party!"

It didn’t take much more to lead the Democrats down the right way. The rabblerouser was probably happy that his own people didn’t beat him to a bloody pulp that same night.

Very well said!

Rush, Hannity, Mike Reagan, Tony Snow, etc., all have very important parts to play, with different approaches. Rush is more of an entertainment show, Hannity is a "Yeah! Right On!" show that gets your blood steaming, and Tony is the meat-and-potatoes version. All have their appeal and having these many options is terrific!
