Buttafuoco sentenced to year in county jail

(Los Angeles-AP) -- Joey Buttafuoco, who made national headlines more than a decade ago when his 17-year-old girlfriend shot his wife in the face, was sentenced to a year in jail today for his role in an auto insurance scam.

Buttafuoco pleaded guilty to a felony insurance fraud charge and was immediately booked in Los Angeles County Jail.

Judge David Horowitz also sentenced Buttafuoco to five years probation and ordered him to pay more than 46-hundred dollars in restitution.

Buttafuoco was arrested last December during a sting that led to charges against ten other owners or employees of Southern California auto repair shops. He had previously pleaded innocent to three counts of insurance fraud and one count of grand theft involving his San Fernando Valley body shop.

Prosecutors contended Buttafuoco, who co-owns California Collision of Chatsworth, told undercover investigators how to file phony insurance claims for undamaged cars.

Considering all his run-ins with the law, it is pretty obvious he conspired wih Amy Fisher to kill his wife.

One more American, who we nearly all sought to emulate, goes up in flames. Is there anyone we can believe in anymore.

I mean, I dont know if I want to live in a world where a shining example of true manhood, Joey Buttafuoco, cant make it.

I'm gonna have to throw away my tight muscle shirts and my baggy tiger-striped gym pants. This is tooooo much!

I agree.

His wife refused to believe he had anything to do with it. But she did finally divorce him, I believe.

Gee, what's next? Someone will accuse OJ Simpson of stealing cable television signal?

And they both seemed like such nice young men...

Better put sarcasm alert up for the newbies...

When did this guy come to California? Maybe he got one of those visits from the PD like Paul Kersey did.

Too bad for Joey that Klintoon's no longer in the position to grant/sell him a pardon.

I think so. And Amy, to her credit, has made a good life for herself since getting out of prison, and hasn't resorting to crime or even posing nude to make money. Joey, on the other hand, can't seem to stay out of trouble.
