Burglary and robbery are very different crimes. These guys were armed robbers and very dangerous. Don't equate them to burglars who only break in when no one is home.

Agreed. I just don't stipulate any difference between the consequences of the two behaviors. If someone breaks into someone else's home - burglary or robbery, to me it makes no difference. The homeowner is not obligated to inquire of the perpetrators their intent.

Robbery, Burglary, and Breaking & Entering are all three are different crimes. These thugs committed first degree burglary. (Entering an occupied residence at night.)
An unoccupied building is Breaking & Entering.
Robbery is forcably taking anothers possesions.
This could be classified as Home Invasion but not robbery.
