Wasn't there a study years ago that showed if there was a national sales tax of 8-9% that the government would have several hundred billion dollars leftover after current spending? It would put a lot of lawyers and accountants out of work. I think the 8-9% applied to everyone with no breaks for charities, poor, etc... . My biggest fear is that you could write 10,000 pages of new tax code for the version listed in this article.
