040320-N-6213R-226 Pacific Ocean (Mar. 20, 2004) - A CH-46 Sea Knight assigned to the "Gunbearers" of Helicopter Combat Support Squadron One One (HC-11) transfers ordnance to the flight deck of USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) during a vertical replenishment (VERTREP) at sea. Stennis spent over nine hours alongside the fast combat support ship USS Sacramento (AOE 1) transferring over 900 pallets of ordnance and supplies in preparation for an upcoming deployment in support of the ongoing Global War on Terrorism. 040320-N-6213R-444 Pacific Ocean (Mar. 20, 2004) - An Aviation Ordnanceman moves a pallet of BLU-111 500 lb. bombs through the hangar deck of USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) during a vertical replenishment (VERTREP) at sea with the fast combat support ship USS Sacramento (AOE 1). The BLU series bombs are an improved version of the older Mk. 82, 83, and 84 series bombs. BLU series bombs use a more stable explosive and are less sensitive to explosion. Stennis spent over nine hours alongside the replenishment oiler USS Sacramento (AOE 1) transferring over 900 pallets of ordnance and supplies in preparation for an upcoming deployment in support of the ongoing Global War on Terrorism.
