Where's Bin Laden?

U.S. special forces in Afghanistan are going native in their hunt for al-Qaeda's No. 1.

A TIME exclusive By MICHAEL WARE/NANGALAM

The men of Camp Blessing know they are bait. They dangle far from the formidable, heavily fortified perimeters of other U.S. bases in Afghanistan. Instead of the hundreds or thousands of troops that are in the large encampments, there are only a dozen Green Berets from what is known as Operational Detachment Alpha (ODA) 936 and a smattering of Marines. But they are dangling far from safety to attract a big catch. "This is Osama bin Laden's backyard," says the team sergeant. "And part of the solution to tracking him is having guys like us out here in isolated areas."......."

So what if we ever catch him? There will be another a-hole to take his place immediately.

Since the beginning of civilization, there has always been this struggle. It's just that today people think we can avoid this struggle.

He is symbolic.Getting him won't get rid of terror but he won't seem magically untouchable to his fans either.

Exactly! That is why to be successful, the War on Terror has to be 90% offensive.

Memo to Mr. Ware:

In regards to your query, "Where is Bin Laden", need we remind you that you are neither a member of the US Armed Forces, nor a servant of the American people.

You have no right to know.

We do.

Thank you.

Just watched the National Geographic Special tonight on MSNBC about Al Qaeda. Thank GOD for our troops who are risking their lives in Afghanistan and Iraq and all over the world. I know it won't end our woes to get Osama or whatever his #2 guy's name is but the bastards need to be sent to hell as soon as possible. Israel's woes aren't over either but they ended the life of one miserable, evil bastard today and that's good news.

Well, I certainly hope Time magazine was kind enough to provide a Lat/Lon position...and maybe names and hometowns of the operators...

...am I the only one tired of reading about "secret" operations? If they're secret, then why are they so public?

Amen. I gave up on Time during the Vietnam war.

As far as BL, I think he is dead, but it serves us better to keep him alive. He is not a martyr and we get to keep killing his underlings in our search for him.

Kill him and the dems will say the war is over.
