Far from being a fair and balanced interview. Hadley was not given the same opporutunity to comment on Clarke's accustations. Stahl paraphraased most of what he had to say. I wonder what was left out during the editing.

Clarke is the one who should be held responsible along with Clinton. They failed to act after being attacked multiple times over the 90's. UBL declared war against the US in 1998 with a long, rambling declaration.

Clarke is pushing his book to supplement his generous USG pension of at least 100K. CBS is owned by Viacom, which is pissed about the FCC cracking down on smut over the public airwaves. This was a calculated hit piece. I hope the White House responds directly and strongly about Clarke's comments. Kerry was given a huge free political ad.

You're right, CBS isn't fair and balanced! They mostly give to the NRCC. ($5,200 in 2000 - Fox News Corp only gave $2,275 to the NRCC that year.)

I agree - 60 Minutes butchered Hadley's rebuttal and substituted Stahl voice overs.

I also liked all of the pictures reinforcing the image of a serious, hard working Clinton juxtaposed with film of Bush walking across the South Lawn, giggling, to go along with Richard Clarke's assertion that Bush "just isn't serious" or "engaged" when it comes to fighting terrorism. Real subtle.

I was half listening to that program. But I believe Clark did say that he had presented to both Clinton and Bush plans to attack Al Quede and kill OBL and both rejected them. I won't dismiss Clark or his allegations. But he is trying to sell a book. But of course so was everyone who came out with an anti Clinton book and I believe most of that stuff.
