Indeed we're blessed to have the Bushes in the WH. Integrity, honesty, and commitment to defending every last inch of America are written all over his face. Laura is the same. What you see is exactly who they are, thank God.

To ALL!
OK now!! I've got another letter ready to go to our paper (in response to a total idiot's letter that was in yesterday), and I PROMISE not to send it until I get some feedback (not that I'll take anyone's suggestions! LOL!)
Here it is, with the names being changed to protect the guilty..........
I am bewildered by John Does use of the term immoral war in his recent letter. What does he think is immoral about ending brutality, the raping of women before their families, torturing dissidents, and imprisoning children? What is immoral about enabling Iraqis to create a constitution, allowing freedom of religion and speech? Where is the immorality in improved economic conditions, potential for prosperity, or education of boys and girls in safe, clean schools?
Our son has just spent one year of his young life serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom, and we are proud that he has participated in something so noble and right. We are proud that he is serving under a Commander in Chief who respects, and is respected by his troops; who values their lives and sacrifice, and who weighed heavily the costs before engaging troops in Iraq as part of the greater War on Terror. Iraq under Saddam Hussein bred and supported terrorism, and actively developed WMD programs, without which, the region, and the world are more secure. There is nothing immoral about ending his regime.
Ironically, Does candidate John Kerry voted for the war he considers immoral. But Kerry also voted against supporting the troops with protective vests, supplies and pay. Now Kerry claims he is against the war and for the troops, in spite of the record, and said, I voted for the $87 billion before I voted against it. Is that because he supported the troops before he didnt support them? Perhaps his problem is that he lacks core values on which to base his political decisions.
The prospect of a Commander in Chief like Kerry, whose values sway with the political winds; who votes against weapons and military pay, and who will rely on opinions of foreign leaders to determine his policy on American security, frightens many who have family members in the military.
In the coming months we will see distortion and omission by a media attempting to hide the reality of who John Kerry is. Kerrys truth depends on the crowd he is addressing; President Bush just tells the truth.
Soooo..........I want to send it by the end of the day. Any comments/gentle critiques would be greatly appreciated!

Great letter OHio! Have you heard from Eric? Do you expect to, before he's back in theUS?
Obviously I didn't read the total idiot's letter (but based on letters in our paper I can just about imagine what it said), so don't know if this would fit; at the end of the second to last paragraph, after "frightens many who have family member in the military" how about something like, "and, if you value your security and freedom in America, should frighten you."
Like I said, I don't know if it would fit, but might bring it home to people who don't have loved ones in the military.
I LOVE the first paragraph; I'm hoping to get up the nerve to write letters to our paper too, and that is the perfect way to present the facts. In fact, I might have to use it this week with my MIL's sister . . .
Do you think the President is going to have trouble winning Ohio? I keep hearing that since it's "lost" so many jobs it could be really close.

I'm fine. I was just about to sign off since I figured I was alone.
We had a good day today. My 16 year old daughter got baptised today and then we went out to eat at the Original Cheesecake Factory.
You?

Your daughter was baptized? I'd say it was a wonderful day! And cheesecake too?
We're having a pretty quiet day; I try to take it easy on Sunday. Helps me get ready for the week.

Perhaps his problem is that he lacks core values on which to base his political decisions.
I really like the letter. This one line is so important that I wonder if you could pull it out of that paragraph and maybe add another sentence to strengthen it?
What you are getting across in that sentence is really the basis of what's wrong with Kerry. It would be good to start building on that deep and dangerous character flaw.
Just a thought. I really do love the letter.

The idiot said that Bush was a liar and the war was immoral, PLUS he said that we would be hearing lies to try to get Bush reelected! (The complete OPPOSITE is true).
As to your suggestion, my problem is that there is a 350 word limit, and this is exactly 350 words, so I can't add anything without taking something away.
I've already said basically what you suggested in a previous letter to a previous idiot. It's a good thought.
I personally don't think there's a chance that the President will lose, barring economic disaster. But if that disaster is brought on by terrorism, then people will rally behind him, and he'll win even bigger.
My experience in political observation tells me there's no way he's going to lose, BUT, I'm one of the optimists around here, so that may be affecting my opinion somewhat.

Hmmmmmmmmmm.........I see your point.
As I told homemom, I can't add words, so is there any way to transfer it to the last paragraph and still have it all make sense?

She was so nervous about it that I started to think she was going to back out.
It didn't help that the church is one of those really big ones, with the enormous video screens.
But this was important and she did it!
She really hates to do things in front of people. When she was 11 her gymnastics coach wanted to put her into a very elite team, but she refused to compete.
The coach was a former Olympic silver medalist from Romania.
So, her gymnastics career ended.

It seems to me to be PERFECT in that last paragraph.
Probably better in that paragraph anyway since it is such a strong sentence.
It makes your last words very powerful.

I was afraid of that (word limit). Seems you're like me; you could go on and on and on--that's not a bad thing! I used to have trouble getting my articles down to the word count they wanted, too. :-)
It's a great letter, and really puts it all together. You've made your point, and very well.
Yesterday my MIL was complaining about all the bashing going on; I challenged her (nicely!) with telling me one thing President Bush said in any of his ads that was not true.
She could not. I think I got my point across.
If you want, please share any other letters you write--they'll inspire me!
I don't think he'll lose, either, but I fear what COULD happen if Hillary gets her fangs in somehow.

You know, I think I'd be shy to stand up in front of the whole church for that, too. Was it immersion baptism? I was baptized as a baby, so of course don't remember mine. However, the days my kids were baptized (as babies, also) stand out in my mind as very special days. Even now, when there is a baptism, I cry, even if I don't know the family.
