"Silly" is one way to say it. Of course we have a Repulbican majority - and it would be stupid to think that just because Repubs have the majority that Bush's energy plan is somehow in force. That would be a really dumb assumption. It takes less than a majority to block legislation in the Senate... duh.
Besides where is it written "the Bush energy plan" (no one seems to know what that is except for drilling in Alaska) would be the end all to our energy woes?
Nobody said the Bush plan would "end our energy woes". You said we were experiencing the Bush energy plan. I said no, we're not... it hasn't been allowed to pass by a democrat minority.
You make stuff up irrespective of the topic, I see.
Now they are trying to use the high gas prices as an issue in the election.
Typical, the dems care more about power than our Country.
Even if it had passed, it wouldnt have made any difference this year
I'm not sure of that. While the mechanics of pumping more domestic oil wouldn't be in place, OPEC could well have lowered the price enough to discourage oil exploration and drilling here.
We need to drill, drill, drill.
Get the wells in place, then use OPEC oil but have the capacity to bypass them if necessary.
Back in the 70's all this talk of solar, wind, hydrogen bla bla bla. NOTHING ever came to fruition. In fact it was the government that blocked research and developement.
There's oil, low sulfur shale and coal all over the place. Government blocks the exploitation of these resources.
Some same nuclear is the way but, I say no. Its by products are dangerous and expensive to dispose of.
Lets face it, the oil companies have been ripping people off for soooooooooo long and have gotten extremely rich off everyone that now instead of being in the oil business and still getting extremely wealthy, they've figured out that instead of drilling more and pumping more, they can now be in the (artificial) oil shortage business, pump less, produce less and make even more money.
Here's a link to an article that documents some of the clinton-gore shenanigans in promoting higher energy costs.
