Guess what, the RPG2 does not have a rocket motor. It is launched from the tube and has no sub-stainer rocket motor. Actually an RPG is a super caliber recoilless rifle that does not have rifling.

The RPG7 does infact have a sub-stainer motor but the venturis or rocket nozzles are at the front of the rocket motor. It is difficult to shoot on a windy day because it wants to crab into the wind.

I never saw a RPG 7 projectile that had a self destruct feature although I am sure they could have added one to it without any problem. I have disposed of many RPG7 and RPG2 projectiles that have been fired.

In my opinion they are not as good or effective over all as the M72 LAW or the 90mm Recoilless Rifle that use to be in the inventory. The article is not very accurate.

. The article is not very accurate.

Worth repeating. No discussion of shaped charge, no differentiation between a rocket, recoiless rifle and RPG. Lots of errors of omission.
