"Copies of the Radio Hanoi/Radio Peking tapes, cassette and reel-to-reel, are available from VVRN. To receive a chronological catalog outlining the contents of these historic and revealing broadcasts (68 separate entries) from the Voice of Vietnam, send a self-addressed and stamped (52 cents) envelope plus $1.00, or just a buck and a half, to: VVAW/VVRN, 7807 North Avalon, Kansas City, MO 64152."

Somebody around here ought to send for the catalog. What fun it would be to be the first kid on your block with a recording of Radio Hanoi praising John Kerry's efforts to "end the war."

Ya know, it's easy to get caught up in the hype and frenzy of the presidential campaign, especially with the Democrat Party already selected.

However, there are some things we might want to keep in perspective. I don't want to try and minimize the danger that Kerry represents (and he represents a HUGE danger), but we need to bear in mind that in virtually every primary state that Kerry has won, he won with less than 1/2 of the registered Dem voters showing up to vote. This is a big deal. It is indicative of the fact that Dems are NOT behind Kerry in a big way and, as the campaign rolls on, I think more Dem voters will really begin to question the electability of J.F'n Kerry as the campaign heats up.

This suggests a couple of possible scenarios: 1) a Dem revolt at the convention could throw the race into chaos, and/or 2) the Clinton machine is setting Kerry up for a convention surprise (as well as Bush) by engineering a revolt at the convention. If Bush spends too much money on ads opposing Kerry and the Dems pull off a switcheroo, they could, potentially, have a fresh war chest with nasty ads loaded up against Bush where Bush may over-invest in ads opposing Kerry only to have to pull them if this situation occurs.

I'm not convinced that the race is set. I think there is one or more shoes left to drop, including the potential for a terrorist attack in the US on the eve of the election.

All of which goes to point out just how much there is yet to see in this campaign. Stay tuned, this puppy is just starting.
