Wild Turkey Causes Outage

WELLINGTON -- Officials say a wild turkey flew into a primary power line at 19th Street Thursday evening, causing a loud bang and a brief power outage for business owners and residents living on the city's north side.
Wellington Fire Chief John Lloyd says while it may seem unbelievable that a turkey caused the outage -- and not a squirrel as its tradition -- the department "has the feathers to prove it."
A two-man electric power line crew responded to the scene just after the fire department just after 7:30 p.m.
According to Bob Lambert, electric utility director, the crew had power back on in 30 minutes.
"I'd just like to thank the crew that got out there and did the work quickly and put the line back together," Lambert said.
The only thing that wasn't routine about the project was the involvement of the turkey.
Both Lambert and Lloyd said they had never heard of such a thing happening in Wellington.
The turkey did not survive.
Power was out on the west side of North A Street and north 15th Street.

Ever see what happens to a rat when he gnaws through a 440V three-phase AC line?

Eeeek! No, but speaking of rats, guess what Mr. Mew just bought at the bookstore tonight...

Mr. Mew's take, BTW, is Mr. Rat becomes rat fricassee. Mr. Mew works around high voltage stuff :)

You can't cook a turkey any faster than that. Nope. Ya can't
And I love a wild turkey much better than the "domestic variety".
Much more tasty when prepared right
