How many in the demographic listen to Stern in the morning and watch South Park at night? 70%? 80%?
The FCC is concocting a fantasy to behave as though cable (read: Viacom) is oblique and in turn, prosecute Stern, Bubba, et al, as the devil incarnate. Cable's "pay" status obviates nothing - there's a numerative barrier to entry to both, as one has to buy a radio and tune into the radio station in order to be offended.
The hounding of radio is absurd - and the FCC has hinted of extending its regulation to satellite radio. I'm beginning to believe that Paleos and "Praise be! It's WWJD Radio FM95!" think they own the entire radio spectrum.
What I'm saying is that this week's episode is a poorly-constructed jape at JJackson's titillation - Parker & Stone's intent was to cheaply excoriate the viewer (you; me; the crowd that gathered at town hall to pontificate against Eric's escapade) that we permit violence to reign triumphant while a boob/nudity causes mass hysteria.
Why insult the viewer at home when the real boob in all of this is Michael Powell?
