The scourging could not have been nearly as bad as shown in the movie. There is no such evidence of a violent scourging on the Shroud of Turin.
Actually, the scourging, by all historical accounts, was probably much worse and there IS evidence of scourging on the Shroud.
Also, one of the saints, St. Brigit of Sweden, has a set of prayers given to her by Christ. There are fifteen and they are said each with an Our Father and a Hail Mary. If one says them for a year, the total is 5480, the number of wounds Christ told St. Brigit he received.
