I think it is quite possible that he doesn't remember attending this meeting because talk of assassinating Lyndon Johnson, then Nixon was so prevalent in this era. Um, here's the problem. This Kansas City meeting has been documented over the years and was certainly remembered by other attendees (who recall Kerry). Kerry has personally denied attending and had his spokespeople flatly deny it. Not "I can't recall because I was at SO many meetings" or any such rot.
We know why he denied it of course. And as I and others tirelessly point out, he has never to this very day denounced such ideas or the people or the group that espoused them.
I would not draw an equivalence between run of the mill college agitation and this plot (voted down) by the VVAW. We are talking here of one who would be president of this United States.
At the very least his credibility is in negative territory. But it's worse than that.

I don't know what kind of run of the mill college agitation you experienced, but I went through the doors of a lecture hall at Cal in 1970 and almost fell through the burned out floor, it hadn't even been cordoned off after it had been firebombed the night before. I also was in a class room, when some agitators ran in with some campus cops after them shooting off Mace or tear gas. We went out the windows.
Everyone went around breathing through vinegar rags because there was so much residual Mace and tear gas around.
There were constant riots, demonstrations and firebombings during most of the time I was a student, and often we met off campus because our classrooms had been closed due to all the student unrest.
