They do realize that for every demand in the future made by these Islamic freaks, a corresponding level of violence will be threatened or carried out. Cave in or else will be the order of the day.

Europe has seen better days. Such as those described in this anecdote, which happens to involve an enemy similarly motivated:
"The Great Siege of Malta in 1565 highlighted the bravery of a group of 9,000 Knights who defended Malta from 40,000 Turkish troops, who had been sent by the sultan of Turkey, Suleiman the Magnificent, to annihilate the sons of dogs. The fighting was treacherous, with the Knights pouring cauldrons of pitch and hoops of fire onto the Turks. The Turkish retaliated by butchering the surviving Knights, nailing them to a cross and sending them floating into the Grand Harbour. In response, Grand Master Jean Parisot de la Valletta used the severed heads of Turkish prisoners as cannon fodder. After four months of ferocious fighting, Malta overcame the Turks superior force and they sailed back to Constantinople under the cover of darkness to hide their shame."
