I wouldn't be surprised to hear that this family's teenage son was blabbing about the family's gun collection, and a few of his "friends" decided to go after it. This is probably not a random crime.

But it's worth compiling these stories for another reason: if anyone ever blasts real cops as they bust in on a wrong-address no-knock raid, these fake-cop stories will be useful in defense. Good point. Its possible it could help add up to reasonable doubt.
Of course the particular defendant would have to demonstrate he or she was aware of the fake-cop stories before the incident they are on trial for. Probably would have to take the stand.

"Notice that in Texas, it's a "Gun Collection", anywhere else it's an "Arsenal"..." In Kalifornicate -- they report a milk carton sized container of BBs, as THOUSANDS of rounds of ammunition...
Any shooter, that reloads their own -- and has a moderate stock of all calibers on hand -- would make the evening news as a potential terrorist or militia ammo dump.
