2002 Initially voted against creation of the Homeland Security Department, siding with labor unions upset about plans to hire private security workers. Later, voted to back it.

I can imagine some Kerry backers saying "No fair!" on this one. He eventually voted for it, as most would wish.

We criticized him for voting down the 87 billion to fund the Iraq campaign, although he at some earlier stage voted in favor of it. Are we being unrealistic to think a good idea now should be a good idea later, other things being remotely equal?

The Kerry Rule seems to be that if any vote at any stage of events is what the crowd at today's event supported, then that vote most truly represents his record on the item.

I think he wanted to kill the Tomahawk Cruise Missle, too. (Not that those silly things have ever been any use.)

I am a former prosecutor, I now after reflection (want your vote) now support the death penalty for terrorist. BUT I will if you elect me call for a MORITORIUM on the death penalty at the federal level.
I am a former prosecutor I don't support the death penalty for non-terrorist killers of American CHILDREN.
