"Regardless of scource, I believe it to be true."
Oh I've heard Rush use that several times. And although I have listened to Rush a lot on that point, I disagree with him. To say that one should stand by your beliefs is correct function, but when one says being moderate, i.e. reasonable and rational, is bad, what one is in fact saying is that extremism is correct function.
And I have to disagree extremism always ends up badly.

I apologize for jumping the gun on the intent of the reference.
Of course, I still disagree. I believe it is very much a stretch to assert that moderate is reasoned and thoughtful...to me it is the ABSENCE of in-depth examination...(this is NOT to say that every subject and every issue must find its' truth at some extreme)...
My taking execption to the author's thesis, is that people of faith are painted as "extreme"...(ABORTION is extreme)...and they are painted as being shallow of thought, etc. This sterotyping should the property of the left, not conservatives. Besides, it just isn't true...
C.S. Lewis, the Cambridge professor who once set out to prove Chritianity to be the stuff of fairy tales, and was converted in the process, could hardly be labeled as thick-of-skull or extreme.
Charles Colson, who won a case before the Supreme Court at 33 years old, could hardly be labeled as dimwitted, although he believes the Bible to be the word of God.
The world may have moved to the left, and as the world moves left, then those once in the middle are now viewed by some as extreme...but they are NOT extreme.
