Janis Joplin and The Dead,and Hendrix and Bobby Zimmerman/Dylan et al of their ilk,didn't start pop music and certainly aren't the be all and end all of it.

Are you just trying to be funny,or are you just unfamiliar with anything outside of your own era?I don't mean to sound harsh,MUD,but you really could use a dose of pop music history.:-)
