SAN`A, Yemen (AP) - Nine suspects in the 2000 bombing of the destroyer USS Cole have been arrested, the government said Tuesday, including eight who escaped from jail last year.
Interior Minister Rashad al-Eleimi said authorities were closing in on two suspects still at large following their April jail break in the southern port city of Aden, a major embarrassment to the Yemeni government. The bombing in Aden killed 17 U.S. sailors and has been blamed on Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida network.

I advocate declaring war on these terrorist like was done in Jefferson's time against the Barbary Pirates. To heck with arresting these killers and "bringing them to justice". Justice, like beauty is open to many interpretations.
This is war. Total war is not open to many such interpretations.

What, again! How many times are the USS Cole bombers going to be arrested. Escape from jail, be released and then recaught when Yemen needs a little propaganda.

This is good news. I always figured that the Yemeni government actively allowed these terrorists escape. Now that so many have been re-caught, it could be my judgement was too harsh. Or maybe other factors are at work here that we know nothing about -- politics in that region is notoriously corrupt, complex and fluid.
In any case, it's time to bring these mopes to Gitmo.

You make a good point -- I've often thought that our war against piracy has a lot in common with our war on terrorism.
I'm sorry to say, though, that even that war was tarnished by excessive bureaucracy. I know we all like to get nostalgic and misty-eyed about the "good old days" when we could execute the bad guys quickly, but it wasn't always an easy process.
I read that in some parts of the world, the U. S. Navy would sometimes drop off captive pirates with the British Navy -- seems the Brits had a lot less paperwork to go through, and were willing to have a hanging the next day. Now that's efficient!

Good News Indeed!

I spent about an hour today with a client who just got back from Iraq. He said that the reason they can make so many homemade bombs in Iraq is that when the Iraq army caved in no one was guarding the ammo and supply dumps and it was first come first served. He seemed pretty upbeat about the situation there. He expressed the opinion that even the soldiers who weren't re upping after this deployment weren't going to support JFK. Some feel that Kerry is doing to Iraq vets what he did to Vietnam vets by bad mouthing the C in C and the war in general.
