Christians: Protestant & Catholic, It isn't OUR story. It is about Jewish heroes & is their history. How arrogant of us to decide its film worthiness on whether or not it is in our canons.

Yes, but the issue is: would this film have enough appeal to succeed financially? Being in the Christian canon would help (Maccabees isn't in the Jewish Bible) that end. Then again, Braveheart made a fortune and attracted plenty of people who couldn't give a damn about Scotland.
Personally I think that based on history and story alone, Maccabees could succeed.

How arrogant of us to decide its film worthiness on whether or not it is in our canons. So is it bad that just about everyone thinks it's a cool idea?

" It is about Jewish heroes & is their history. How arrogant of us to decide its film worthiness on whether or not it is in our canons." It is the fact that it contains neither doctrine, nor prophecy that show us that it is not a part of God's word. No one questions whether it is accurate history, and it is used extensively in theological studies.
