FYI - This blurb from capitolfax: 7pm UPDATE: CBS-2 exit polls show Barack won big. The TV station is also showing Jack Ryan ahead, but Oberweis is apparently within striking distance.
NBC-5 TV in Chicago is reporting that unnamed Democrats have a copy of the sealed Jack Ryan documents and will release them before the general election. It doesn't surprise me that they have a copy of this, or that they'll release it. But if it contains anything like what's rumoured to be in it, it will be absolutely unforgivable if we lose this seat because Ryan was too naive to think that this would get out.
It didn't have to come from some sealed documents. Someone, somewhere would have talked. It doesn't sound like Jeri Ryan is necessarily standing by her ex. Chances are she told somebody about what the circumstances were and with a senate seat on the line you can bet dems would have found them. One man's opinion

The 2.7 percent turnout thus far was about what it was last Tuesday in TX too.

    Amen, Interloper.

If there's any substance to these claims, I'll be furious at Ryan. Can we pull a New Jersey, if we have to? (I know, I know, we don't have ownership of the state Supreme Court, here--far from it...)

Seriously, is there anything that can be done if it wrecks his candidacy?

That's one alternative. Better than voting for a RAT, no doubt. Ithe Libertarian party candidates had any chance, I'd probably vote for them, in the first place.

Jack's leading across the state, with the exception of a few Rauschenberger counties. A broad-based victory.

Substance to mud? We need to learn from history.
Contract with America a winner. Monica scandal a loser.

Jack and Obama will focus on issues. Others waste their time on mud.

Jack has opportunity to set issue agenda and box in Obama on critical issues like taxes, spending, education. Obama has much less to gain from trying to box in Jack on Gay or Abortion issues.

I spread myself thin accross 2 suburbs and 2 central IL towns. Among Republicans more ridicule of Obie's anti-immigrant stance than support.

#1 comment everywhere: Too bad Fitz isn't running again.
#2 Jack's ads on wasteful Federal spending were repeatedly mentioned by Republican voters. That solidified the undecided for Jack.
#3 My man Steve ran on "experience" which translated to "insider", which he isn't. He created a confusing image. He should have taken my advice last September.
#4 We're constantly told Republican party is split on abortion. Well, only 1 of 8 candidates was pro-abort. He is running last with 1%. Pro-lifers like Jack (and Fitz) can win. But, as with any issue, don't rub it in people's faces.

Here's the bad part about Obama winning for Republicans.

Obama has just locked up Illinois for the Dems, because he is an African-American, and he is very popular with his African-American constituency. They will turn out in force for him, and I assume vote straight party line.

It's not that the outcome of Illinois in 2004 was in doubt before, but this just takes Illinois off the table, imo.

If we're going to worry about what might happen in the future, let's not restrict our thinking to the GOP. For example, drug addicts have a high rate of recidivism, so one might ask when exactly did Obama stop smoking pot and crack, and will he feel the urge to resort to those things under the stress of being a senator?
To: LdSentinal
It says a lot that Wright is outpolling Borling. Longshot hard core conservative outpolls prominent McCain-endorsed moderate.
